WWE Superstar Chelsea Green recently opened up about the creative freedom she has been given within the company, revealing that she now writes her own promos and contributes heavily to the character moments fans see on television.
Speaking on The Ghosts of Hollywood podcast, Green discussed how the trust from WWE’s creative team has allowed her to push boundaries and further develop her on-screen persona. According to Green, that continued encouragement eventually led to a collaborative approach with WWE’s writing team, where she is given a general direction before crafting much of the material herself.
Green credited WWE for putting full trust in her creative instincts over the past several years, noting that many of the character-driven moments fans have seen during that time stem from that autonomy. Interestingly, Green revealed that the opportunity for that freedom initially came during a chaotic time behind the scenes, when attention within WWE was focused elsewhere.
“They just kept giving me reassurance that what I was doing was right, so every week I pushed the boundary and the envelope. Now, we’re at a point where the writers are so incredible with me. They basically just tell me what vibe they want from me and then, I write my own promos, I come up with a lot of the things I do, like the character moments.
All that stuff in the past three years is because WWE has put full and total trust in me. All that came about because they were so busy with the Royal Rumble, everyone cared more about Nia Jax’s return, and I kind of got pushed to the side, and that ended up being for my complete benefit.
I’m so thankful it happened that way.”
Green has since become one of WWE’s most entertaining personalities, with her character work often standing out through comedic timing and exaggerated character moments.
With WWE continuing to allow her creative freedom on the microphone, Green’s unique voice has become a defining element of her on-screen presence.
