Shayna Baszler Expresses Interest In WWE NXT GM Opening Following Ava’s Departure From Company
NXT is in need of a new General Manager after Ava, real name Simone Johnson (daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) announced yesterday that she was leaving WWE and would not be renewing her contract with the company.
With there now being an opening for the role of NXT GM, former two-time WWE NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler has expressed interest in taking on the job. Baszler took to X/Twitter on Saturday posting a gif of herself with the caption:
“Oh? @WWENXT needs a new GM”
Baszler’s time with WWE came to an end in May 2025 after being released from the company.
Since then, she has briefly returned for a cameo appearance at WWE NXT Homecoming and has also contributed behind the scenes since her departure, working as a guest producer and assisting with training at the Performance Center.
Shayna Baszler previously captured the NXT Women’s Championship twice, amassing a combined 549 days across her two runs with the title.
