Robert Stone Names WWE EVOLVE Talent To Watch, Talks TNA/NXT Partnership And Changing Perceptions About TNA Stars
During a recent appearance on The Velvet Ropes with SoCal Val, WWE NXT star Robert Stone opened up about the growing partnership between NXT and TNA Wrestling, while also sharing insight on which rising WWE EVOLVE talent fans should have their eyes on. Stone also reflected on how the old mentality surrounding TNA wrestlers has shifted in today’s wrestling landscape.
Stone, who currently serves as a key on-screen personality and manager in NXT, praised the collaborative energy that’s developed between WWE’s developmental system and TNA. The crossover has generated buzz across both fanbases, with talents from each promotion making surprise appearances throughout 2024.
“There’s a lot of great talent coming through EVOLVE right now. If you haven’t been paying attention, you’re missing out. There’s a few guys down there that I think are going to make waves once they get that NXT spotlight — and honestly, that’s what this whole system is about, right? Building and developing the next generation.”
The EVOLVE brand, now under the WWE banner, continues to serve as a key developmental stage for future NXT Superstars. Stone emphasized the importance of keeping an eye on those performers before they reach the NXT level.
“I’ve always believed that if you want to know who’s going to be a big deal in WWE next year, look at who’s putting in the work in EVOLVE today.. There’s a hunger there that reminds me of the old days.”
Discussing the current NXT x TNA partnership, Stone acknowledged how significant it is to see companies working together in a way that benefits both sides — a stark contrast to the territorial mindset of the past.
“Back in the day, there was this stigma about TNA guys.. Like if you came from there, people didn’t always give you the respect you deserved. But now, things have changed. There’s a lot of respect across the board. Seeing TNA and NXT working together — it’s cool, and it’s good for wrestling as a whole.”
The collaboration has opened new storytelling and talent exchange opportunities for both rosters. With names like Joe Hendry, AJ Francis, and others making appearances in NXT, the partnership continues to blur the lines between major promotions — something Stone believes will only strengthen the industry.
Stone’s perspective underscores the evolving nature of professional wrestling’s ecosystem — one where brand cooperation and cross-promotional talent development are becoming more accepted and even celebrated.
