WWE Superstar Kevin Owens has been announced as the Grand Marshal for tomorrow’s (August 23, 2025) NASCAR Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway, stepping in for Rey Mysterio. The news was confirmed via the official Daytona Twitter account earlier today.
Owens, a former WWE Universal Champion and multi-time world titleholder, will lead the ceremonial start of one of NASCAR’s marquee events, a role originally slated for Rey Mysterio. No specific reason for the change in Grand Marshal duties for Saturday’s race has been disclosed by Daytona International Speedway or WWE.
The Coke Zero 400, known for its high-speed, late-summer racing excitement, will feature a field of NASCAR’s top drivers competing under the lights at the historic 2.5-mile superspeedway. Owens’ appearance marks another intersection between professional wrestling and motorsports, following a growing trend of WWE talent participating in major sporting events outside of wrestling.
Fans attending the race or watching on television can expect Owens to be at center stage for the ceremonial pre-race duties, including the traditional “start your engines” command.
