Black opens up about the creation of his “dark father” persona, its origins, and what fans can expect moving forward.
WWE Superstar Aleister Black recently spoke about the “dark father” character he debuted prior to his departure from WWE, sharing insights into the concept and how it was developed.
Appearing on The Angle Podcast with Joey Karni, Black revealed that the idea had been in the works for some time before Vince McMahon suggested taking his character in a new direction.
“The dark father character kind of started spawning when we were, when Vince wanted to do something else. So I had this idea for a while now, of this dark father character and I presented this idea of a storyteller,” Black explained. “One of my friends used to tell me that whenever you tell me things you explain stuff like you’re telling a fairytale, like you’re reading a book. I said let me work this that. So I presented this idea that kind of tied in some stuff from my childhood that I experienced. They liked it and started doing vignettes.”
Black also discussed the plans for the character’s entrance and how it had yet to be fully realized on WWE programming before his exit.
“The entrance wise, we didn’t even get to that part. I think his idea at the time was just to keep it the same as it was without the ramp. And when it would come back? I think parts of it have come back. You’ll see it a little more as time progresses. I don’t think we’ll change the entrance, but you’ll see changes in my gear maybe…” he said.
The “dark father” persona reflects Black’s creative input and storytelling approach, tying in elements from his personal experiences while maintaining the mystique that fans have come to associate with him.
