Report: TNA in Talks to Potentially Move IMPACT to WWE-Linked Network, Could Air Head-to-Head with AEW Dynamite
AEW could be looking at even more head-to-head competition in the future..
According to a new report from John Alba of Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown, multiple independent sources have confirmed that there have been discussions about TNA Wrestling potentially moving its flagship IMPACT program to a WWE-affiliated television network. Even more surprising, the company is reportedly open to shifting its traditional Thursday night slot to Wednesday evenings — directly opposite AEW Dynamite.
While Alba’s report did not definitively identify the network in question, The CW was cited as a possibility. Sources told The Takedown that The CW has shown legitimate interest in adding TNA to its programming lineup, and that certain WWE stakeholders would like to see the promotion become part of the network’s content slate.
At this time, it is unclear how far along these talks have progressed. Alba stressed that no deal has been signed, and details remain fluid.
When approached for comment on Wednesday, TNA representative Carlos Silva acknowledged that media rights discussions are ongoing. Silva stated that additional meetings are set for later this month, but reiterated that nothing has been finalized. Notably, Silva did not deny that conversations have taken place about running head-to-head with AEW on Wednesdays.
Currently, The CW’s Wednesday night schedule features scripted dramas Family Law and Good Cop/Bad Cop in the 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET window — the same time slot AEW Dynamite occupies on TBS.
If the move were to happen, it would mark a significant strategic shift for TNA, placing the company in direct competition with AEW on a weekly basis, and potentially reshaping the Wednesday night wrestling landscape.
