WWE Creative Pitch Revealed Which Would Have Seen Chelsea Green Win The Women’s Royal Rumble Match Uncontested As The Final Entrant

What could have been…

An intriguing concept made its way across the desks of WWE creative in the lead-up to this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble, one that would have catapulted Chelsea Green into a major spotlight as the match’s surprise winner.

According to footage from the new Netflix docuseries WWE: Unreal, an idea was pitched internally that would have seen Green capture a career-defining moment by entering the Women’s Rumble match as the final entrant at #30 — but with a twist. The finish would have featured entrant #29 eliminating herself and the final remaining competitor simultaneously, leaving the ring completely empty. This would have set the stage for Green to stroll down as the last entrant, step into the ring uncontested, and be declared the official winner of the Women’s Royal Rumble by default.

The concept pitched appeared to have some traction among members of the writing team as a creative, heat-generating finish — one that could have amplified Green’s current persona by handing her a historic (albeit controversial) Rumble victory without having to lift a finger.

Ultimately, the idea was scrapped in favor of a more traditional Rumble conclusion, with WWE brass opting to move forward with a different winner to anchor the road to WrestleMania. But, what could have been..
