Blake Monroe, formerly known to fans worldwide as Mariah May, is officially a WWE Superstar, and is embracing her next chapter with renewed passion and purpose. In a heartfelt and revealing video shared on her YouTube channel, Monroe detailed the emotional road that led her to the doors of WWE and the personal resurgence that reignited her love for professional wrestling.
“I felt a little dejected at the end of last year and I didn’t know it (WWE) was an option for me,” Monroe admitted candidly. “I started training again. I actually started training at Flatbacks, which is an amazing school. I was training in Atlanta and I just fell in love with wrestling again.”
Flatbacks Wrestling School, operated by WWE alums Tyler Breeze and Shawn Spears, has quickly become a haven for talent looking to sharpen their skills and refocus their careers. For Monroe, it became the spark she needed to reignite the fire inside her.
“I felt like I was back in the game, and I want to do so much more,” she continued. “And I spoke to my manager and he said, ‘I believe in you.’ And I spoke to people around me and they were like, ‘I believe in you.'”
Support poured in from all corners of her life, but it was a conversation with her parents that proved to be the most pivotal. “Even my dad said, ‘Your life isn’t a dress rehearsal, you get one go. This is your dream since you were a little kid.’”
That affirmation was all Monroe needed.
“And so everything happened really quickly. I’m doing it. I’m officially a WWE Superstar.”
Fans have followed Monroe’s journey closely since her highly-praised run on the independent scene, stint in international promotions, and her most recent run with All Elite Wrestling. With undeniable charisma, in-ring poise, and a newly rediscovered drive, Monroe is poised to make waves in WWE.
While Monroe’s past as Mariah May helped put her on the map, her evolution into Blake Monroe represents more than just a name change – it signals a rebirth.
