Jim Ross Declares He’s Cancer Free, Eyes AEW All In Return
On a recent episode of his podcast Grillin’ JR, legendary professional wrestling commentator Jim Ross shared the news fans have been hoping to hear: he is officially cancer free.
Ross, who has served as the voice of some of the most iconic moments in wrestling history, has been battling various health issues in recent years, including skin cancer. But during his candid update, JR revealed that the worst is now behind him.
“No, just get back to work,” Ross responded when asked about his next steps. “Yeah, I’m tired of sitting at home, and I’m excited about the opportunities that await. I am feeling better. My plan is to be in Dallas for the big event [AEW All In].”
Ross expressed gratitude not only for his recovery but for the support he received during his battle with cancer. Ever humble and loyal, JR took a moment to acknowledge the role AEW and its President Tony Khan played during his time away.
“You never know about tomorrow. The cancer’s gone, which I’m very happy to say. So you know, I’m blessed that my health has returned, and I’m feeling pretty damn good,” Ross said.
“I’m very indebted to AEW for hiring me, bringing me on board, and Tony Khan has been amazingly wonderful during my illness,” Ross shared. “He supported me wholeheartedly and I really do appreciate that. That’s the way a boss should act, should do is take care of your people. And Tony Khan has certainly taken good care of me, and I plan on being reciprocal and doing my best to take care of him in my role going forward.”
Ross has been a cornerstone of AEW’s commentary team since 2019, lending his iconic voice and credibility to the upstart promotion as it carved out its identity in the modern pro wrestling landscape. With All In on the horizon and his health back in check, Ross is looking to once again lend his legendary voice to a new chapter in AEW history.
This announcement marks a monumental moment for the wrestling community, as JR’s presence at the commentary table is not just welcomed — it’s revered.
