The former WWE NXT standout, known to many fans as Cora Jade, recently appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, and opened up about her current dream opponent in professional wrestling: none other than Mercedes Moné.
Moné, formerly known as Sasha Banks during her WWE tenure, has become a global star since departing the sports entertainment giant. Now finding success in AEW, NJPW, CMLL, Rev Pro, and more, Moné continues to carve out a legacy built on reinvention and creative freedom—something Black relates to deeply.
During the interview, Black didn’t mince words about who she sees as her ideal opponent in this next phase of her career:
“That’s my current dream match. I feel like her and Bayley were my favorites out of the four Horsewomen. I loved all of them, but I feel like I really, really looked up to them two specifically. I feel like I just felt the most connected to them two because Mercedes was always writing in her notebook too. And I feel like I look at her and see aspects of myself too. So to be able to wrestle her now, where we both have had our time in WWE and we’re both doing our own thing now and doing whatever we want creatively, I feel like that is the ultimate dream match.”
The former NXT Tag Team Champion hasn’t been shy about her admiration for the Four Horsewomen, but her connection with Moné seems to go deeper than fan appreciation—it’s about shared ambition, creativity, and evolution.
While Black has yet to make her next official move in the ring following her time in NXT, this declaration may offer fans a glimpse into her mindset. She’s not just looking for high-profile matches—she’s looking for the kind of artistic, character-driven work that Moné has built her post-WWE career around.
