Athena Unsure If She’ll Be At AEW All In Texas, But Says “There’s Still Time”

With AEW All In Texas looming large on the summer calendar, questions are swirling about which names will help anchor the show’s card deep in the heart of Arlington. One name fans have been hoping to see featured prominently is none other than the self-proclaimed “Forever Champ” and reigning ROH Women’s World Champion, Athena.

But in a recent conversation with Rick Ucchino of Sports Illustrated, the former WWE Superstar and current Ring of Honor standout cast a bit of uncertainty on her involvement with AEW’s marquee summer event.

“I don’t know if that’s in my stars,” Athena admitted. “If not, I have a Ring of Honor pay-per-view that I will probably be defending my championship on. You know, I would probably be super bummed out if I wasn’t on All In, but honestly, there’s still time.”

The quote highlights a sentiment that has become increasingly common among ROH talent—being dominant in Ring of Honor doesn’t always guarantee a spot on AEW’s biggest stages. And yet, if there’s one performer who has proven over the past year that she belongs in the national spotlight, it’s Athena.

Since capturing the ROH Women’s World Championship in December 2022, the “Fallen Goddess” has become synonymous with excellence between the ropes. Her reign has been nothing short of brutal, racking up over a dozen successful defenses and cementing herself as the most dominant champion in the brand’s modern era.

Still, the uncertainty surrounding her All In status raises eyebrows. Last year’s All In event at Wembley Stadium saw a number of crossover matches featuring ROH titles and talent. With AEW President Tony Khan recently reaffirming his commitment to the ROH brand, the expectation is that at least some of its champions would be featured. Whether that includes Athena, however, remains to be seen.

For her part, Athena remains both realistic and hopeful. Her acknowledgment that she’d be “super bummed” if left off the card adds a layer of authenticity to her comments—this isn’t just a champion looking for a paycheck; this is a competitor who knows she should be in the spotlight and is waiting for that call to prove it once again.

As AEW All In Texas continues to take shape, fans will no doubt be keeping a close eye on Athena’s status. And if she does make the card? Expect her to remind the world, once again, why she calls herself the most dominant woman in professional wrestling.

There’s still time. And if the stars align, they may shine brightest on the “Forever Champ.”
