Jim Ross Undergoes Surgery To Remove Cancer In His Colon, Begins Recovery

Legendary pro wrestling commentator Jim Ross has successfully undergone surgery, according to an update shared via social media by Conrad Thompson.

The procedure, aimed at removing cancer that had been found in his colon – which JR had revealed earlier this month, appears to have gone well, with hopes that all of the cancer was successfully removed.

Thompson shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), citing Rafael Morffi, AEW’s former Vice President of Live Events:

“Just heard from @rmorfnyc that JR’s surgery went well and they hope to have successfully removed all of his cancer this morning! Please keep @JRsBBQ in your thoughts and prayers as he begins his recovery!”

Ross, who currently serves as a commentator and senior advisor for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has faced health challenges in recent years, including a previous battle with skin cancer. Throughout it all, the WWE Hall of Famer has remained a resilient figure in the wrestling world, continuing to lend his iconic voice to AEW broadcasts and special events.

AEW has not issued an official statement at this time, but the outpouring of support from colleagues and fans across the wrestling industry has been swift and heartfelt.

Bodyslam.net joins the wrestling community in wishing Jim Ross a full and speedy recovery. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
