Paul Wight Confirms He Is Still With AEW: “Still Very Happy” with Company and Tony Khan’s Vision
Captain Insano is still All Elite.
Despite not appearing for AEW since the November 15th, 2023 episode of Dynamite, Paul Wight remains firmly planted in All Elite Wrestling. Recently speaking with Sportskeeda’s Wrestle Binge podcast, Wight put to rest any speculation regarding his status with the company.
“I am still with AEW, still very happy with AEW, very happy with Tony Khan and what he’s doing,” Wight said, addressing speculation head-on.
Known for his decades of dominance across the wrestling industry, Wight signed with AEW in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of experience and an undeniable presence both on commentary and in the ring. While his appearances have been more sporadic, his commitment to AEW’s vision remains unwavering.
“I appreciate Tony and the way he treats talent, and the kind of liberty that Tony gives talent to discover themselves and find themselves,” Wight continued. “It’s not a cookie cutter process in AEW, they’re not saying ‘This is your ring entrance, this is how you pose, this is what you wear’. AEW is very grassroots, authentic and for me at this stage of the game I appreciate that.”
Wight’s comments echo a sentiment shared by many AEW veterans and newcomers alike: that Tony Khan’s leadership fosters an environment where creativity thrives and individuality is embraced. For a performer like Wight, whose legacy was built on evolution and adaptability, AEW offers an ideal platform to contribute both on-screen and behind the scenes.
While the “World’s Largest Athlete” hasn’t been featured prominently in recent programming, his ongoing involvement in AEW speaks to the long-term value he brings to the locker room and the company as a whole. Whether mentoring talent, stepping into commentary, or returning to the ring for a special moment, Paul Wight remains an integral part of AEW.
