Goldberg’s Retirement Match To Take Place “In The South,” Tentatively Set for Atlanta, Could Coincide With AEW’s All In

After decades of dominance and destruction in the squared circle, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg looks to be preparing to deliver his final spear.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Goldberg’s retirement match is slated to take place this year, and early signs suggest it could be positioned with strategic intent.

In a recent interview, Goldberg himself confirmed that his farewell match would occur “in the south,” a nod to his roots. While no official location has been announced, sources speaking to Fightful Select have indicated that the tentative plan is for the event to take place in Atlanta, Georgia. The city holds deep significance for the Hall of Famer, who not only called Atlanta home for many years, but also starred on the gridiron with both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Falcons before launching one of the most iconic wrestling careers of all time as part of WCW, which called Atlanta their homebase.

What makes this potential retirement even more intriguing is the timing. Internally, WWE is reportedly planning to hold a special edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event on Saturday, July 12th. That just so happens to be the same date as AEW’s All In, setting up what would be a major night of competition as the two companies went head-to-head.

While no official word has been given from WWE, the buzz behind the scenes is building. Fightful Select’s sources emphasize that Goldberg is “absolutely being discussed” for the July 12th show, and the talk of Atlanta only strengthens speculation that the event could serve as his final bout.

Goldberg burst onto the wrestling scene in the late 1990s and quickly became a household name through WCW’s Monday Nitro, where his infamous winning streak and devastating Jackhammer finish won over wrestling fans worldwide. Since then, he’s had multiple returns to WWE, and it looks like we will be getting one more soon.

If July 12 in Atlanta is indeed the final curtain for Goldberg, fans can expect a thunderous send-off befitting one of the industry’s most biggest stars.
