Scorpio Sky Opens Up About AEW Absence: “What Can You Do?”

Scorpio Sky has always been one of the more enigmatic and underutilized talents in All Elite Wrestling.

A former AEW Tag Team Champion and TNT Champion, Sky brought a rare mix of athleticism, charisma, and veteran savvy to the table. But over the past couple of years, fans have been left wondering: where did Scorpio Sky go?

On the re-debut episode of his, Creating Character Podcast, co-hosted with James Willems, Sky broke his silence about his extended absence from AEW programming, and let’s just say, he didn’t hold back.

“My career has sure taken a nosedive, hasn’t it?” Sky said with a candidness that caught even Willems off guard. “Anyone that has followed me obviously knows that things have been a little different over the past couple of years.”

For fans speculating whether he’s been sidelined due to injury, Sky offered a different perspective: he’s been healthy, but hasn’t been used.

“I know I’m healthy and I’ve been healthy for a long time and I’ve been wanting to compete. It’s just one of those things where, what can you do? You only have so much say. You have this much [holds fingers close together] say. You do what you can.”

Sky touched on his earlier appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, noting that his attempts at diplomacy might have rubbed someone in AEW the wrong way. “I love that show. To be honest with you, I didn’t lie when I was on the show, but I definitely went out of my way to not make the company look bad,” he explained. “Come to find out, someone there, still, maybe has a few issues with some of the things I may have said. Now I’m like, ‘Screw it, I’m going to say whatever the hell I want now.'”

It’s a striking change in tone for Sky, who has often played things close to the vest. But in the face of continued silence from AEW and a lack of clear answers, his frustration is palpable.

“It’s something that has been on my mind. I don’t think about it too much, but sometimes I do wonder, ‘What is the perspective? Do people think I’m not profiled because I suck, I don’t have it anymore, I’m hurt, do they think there is bad blood?'” Sky asked rhetorically. “The reality is I don’t know what it is. I don’t know if there is bad blood or not. I know I’m healthy and I’ve been healthy for a long time and I’ve been wanting to compete. It’s just one of those things where, what can you do? You only have so much say. You have this much [holds fingers close together] say. You do what you can.”

As AEW continues to expand its roster and television footprint, stories like Sky’s serve as a reminder of the real human cost behind creative decisions. For now, Scorpio Sky remains in limbo—ready, willing, and able to compete, but waiting for the opportunity.

And if his words on Creating Character are any indication, he’s done playing it safe.
