Eddie Kingston Provides Update on His Injury Status And Recovery, Amid Rumors Of Potential In-Ring Return

The Mad King isn’t there yet.

Despite recent speculation swirling among fans and wrestling pundits, AEW standout Eddie Kingston is not on the verge of making an in-ring return.. at least not yet. The “Mad King” provided a candid update to PWInsider, addressing rumors and providing an update on his ongoing recovery process.

“I am not there,” Kingston clarified. “I have started running in the ring. I am still doing physical therapy and I am mentally better. Yet again, as people know, it’s a struggle, but being able to be in the ring again and work out with PT and working out with Cezar [Bononi] is helping my mental health, let alone my body. I can finally feel the ball is moving in the right direction.”

Kingston’s remarks come amid growing anticipation regarding his in-ring return after suffering a serious leg injury during a match at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Resurgence event on May 13, 2024. The injury, which included a tibial fracture, ACL tear, and meniscus tear, occurred when Kingston took a suplex through a table from Gabe Kidd.

There have been conflicting reports regarding Eddie Kingston’s injury status and timetable for his return as Dave Meltzer is reporting in the latest WON that he was set to return from his leg injury in May.

“The last word when asking about an Eddie Kingston AEW return from his broken leg was May.”

While the timeline for a full return remains uncertain, his latest comments suggest tangible progress on both the physical and mental fronts.

Known for his gritty realism and raw intensity, Kingston has become a fan favorite in AEW and beyond. His passion for the craft and authenticity in the ring have set him apart in a business. This heartfelt update underscores his resilience and dedication to the sport, even as he navigates the difficult path back to active competition.

As he continues to work closely with medical staff and trainers like former AEW and WWE Superstar Cezar Bononi, Kingston’s focus remains on full recovery rather than rushing back prematurely. For now, fans will have to wait a bit longer before we see Eddie Kingston in an All Elite Wrestling ring.
