Lyra Valkyria Says the WWE Intercontinental Title Win Didn’t Hit Her Until She Got Home – “It Was Just in My Bag”

WWE Superstar Lyra Valkyria is still adjusting to her new reality as the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, but she’s embracing the responsibility that comes with it.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, the rising star opened up about the moment she found out she was winning the title, the surreal experience of holding championship gold, and how the pressure of her new role is shaping her confidence.

Valkyria, known for her dynamic in-ring style and fierce determination, admitted that the championship win has added both confidence and pressure to her career. But she views the pressure as empowering rather than daunting.

“[It’s brought me] A lot of confidence. It’s a big responsibility, and there’s a lot of pressure that comes with it,” she told Van Vliet. “But I think I’m kind of in control once I get in the ring, that’s where I’m like, no matter what outside noise there is, I’m completely in control of what I do here. So that’s kind of where my power is. No one can take that away.”

Valkyria revealed that she wasn’t involved in any creative conversations ahead of her title win and found out about her big moment the same day it happened.

“I never was a part of that conversation. I just find out on Mondays what I’m doing. I found out the day of. I was never a part of the decision or the conversation. I just showed up to work,” she explained.

As for how she reacted when the news was finally delivered, the reality took some time to sink in.

“Amazing. I couldn’t believe it. I really couldn’t believe it,” she recalled. “But things don’t hit me when I think they’re going to. I always say that it never hits me in the moment. It hit me when I was driving home and taking my bags out of the car on the Tuesday. The title is just sitting in my bag, the zip opens, and I’m like, Oh yeah, that’s the Intercontinental Championship. I won that. I brought that home. That’s when it hits me. It’s never when it should.”

Lyra Valkyria’s journey to the top of the women’s division is one of quiet confidence and unwavering resolve. Her grounded mindset and focus in the ring make her one of the most compelling champions in WWE today. With the Intercontinental Championship now part of her legacy, the WWE Universe will be watching closely to see how far she can elevate the title, and herself, in the months to come.
