Kevin Nash On Sabu: “He Just Lived And Died By The Sword, There Was No Such Thing As Taking The Night Off”

Kevin Nash Remembers Sabu on His Podcast Following Wrestling Legend’s Passing

The professional wrestling world is mourning the loss of one of its most iconic and influential figures, Sabu, who passed away on May 11th, 2025. On a recent episode of his podcast Kliq This, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash took time to reflect on Sabu’s life, legacy, and impact on the industry.

“Yeah. And he.. I mean, he lived the life,” Nash said. “I mean, that’s what he.. he was. I mean, he was a pro wrestler. Yeah. That’s what he was, man. He was a pro wrestler.”

Known for his fearless, high-risk style and trailblazing work in ECW and around the globe, Sabu left a lasting impression on fans and peers alike. Nash emphasized the deep respect Sabu commanded in the locker room, not just for his in-ring work, but for the kind of man he was.

“He is one of the people in this business that you never will hear somebody say a bad word about,” Nash shared. “He was that kind of a human… I had, you know, not a lot of time with him, but enough time that I got to know him. And he was with Melissa Coates for a while. And I knew Melissa. He was just always the same, you know. I’ve never heard him raise his voice.”

Sabu’s commitment to his craft was central to Nash’s tribute. His no-days-off approach and complete dedication to professional wrestling were undeniable.

“I mean, I tell you, man, he just lived and died by the sword, you know,” Nash said. “There was no such thing as taking the night off.”

Reflecting further, Nash placed Sabu in the company of legends who gave everything they had to the business – those whose pain, sacrifice, and passion earned universal respect.

“I think that from a boy standpoint, I think he has a lot of admiration and respect from all the boys,” Nash said. “Because he, you know, he just.. he left it all out there. Yeah. There’s certain guys, man, like, you know, I tip my hat to Mick Foley. You know, guys like Mick that just… they gave it everything they had for as long as they could, you know.”

As tributes continue to pour in from across the wrestling world, Kevin Nash’s words echo what so many fans and wrestlers feel, Sabu was a one-of-a-kind talent whose legacy will never be forgotten.
