Almost two weeks ago, TNA Wrestling held a set of television at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. These were reported to be the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) last appearances with the company.
Now, it sounds like the pair might have a new home very shortly.
PWInsider.com is reporting that within TNA, there’s been more of a realization that the Guns are gone, where before some hoped they might still return to work some dates. There are some in TNA who believe the Guns will sign with AEW and that will be their landing spot.
The duo has signed new contracts in March of 2023, but were set to hit free agency yesterday (4/1), and decided to do so instead of working on a new per date agreement with the company.
Alex Shelley is being advertised for what’s being referred to as a “generational clash” on this weeks episode against Nic Nemeth. Chris Sabin was defeated last week by Steve Maclin.
The Motor City Machine Guns are former three-time IMPACT/TNA Tag Team Champions, as well as the longest reigning tag team champions in company history.
The Guns last appearance on TNA Wrestling programming – as of now – is a tag team match against Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers of The System that will air on the 4/18 iMPACT episode.
AEW is in the midst of a tag team tournament to crown new AEW Tag Team Champions, with the tournament coming to an end at the Dynasty PPV on 4/21.
