On March 20th at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, the current Big Japan Pro-Wrestling World Strong Heavyweight Champion Yuya Aoki will be defending his title against former champion Takuya Nomura in a highly anticipated battle. This will be the eighth defense by Aoki since winning the title from Yuji Okabayashi on May 4th 2023.
Nomura does hold somewhat of a psychological advantage over Aoki as the two met in a singles match back on November 16th 2021. At the time it was Nomura who was the Big Japan Pro-Wrestling World Strong Heavyweight Champion and Aoki the challenger. Nomura defeated Aoki in that encounter to retain the title.
Aoki and Nomura have been engaging in a number of preliminary match-ups prior to their March 20th championship showdown. Aoki took to X today to comment on his challenger Nomura.
After the first and last preliminaries, I thought again, I want to surpass Takuya Nomura! I want to take on Takuya Nomura with all my might! I never want to lose to Takuya Nomura!

Both Aoki and Nomura have been major stars for BJW since 2016, each holding various title within the promotion. As Aoki has stated he wants to surpass Nomura, he will have the opportunity to do just that on March 20th. Unfortunately for Aoki, Nomura remains as one the top talents in BJW and beating him will be a very difficult task.
Aoki is less than two months away from holding the Big Japan Pro-Wrestling World Strong Heavyweight Championship for one year. One could bet that he will do everything in his power to retain the title when he meets Nomura so he could continue his march towards 365 days as champion. There is only one problem. You can also bet that Nomura will do everything in his power to prevent that happening as he stated he will walk out the match as the new champion. We will all find out who prevails in this championship battle on March 20th.
