Mercedes Mone: I Was Told That My Ankle Injury Was Career-Ending

Mercedes Mone is back and stronger than ever.

Last May at NJPW Resurgence, Mercedes Mone and Willow Nightingale fought in the finals of a tournament to crown the first-ever NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion. In the middle of the match, Nightingale pushed Mone off the top rope where Mone landed awkwardly and she suffered a serious injury to her ankle.

In a conversation with Kick Rocks, Mone reveals that doctors told her the injury she suffered almost was the end of her career.

“I’ve been working so hard to get back to this place that I love. Little do people know, I was told this is a career ending injury. I screamed at my doctor and surgeon and said, ‘No, it’s not.’ I’m going to come back really soon and I’m going to have the greatest time, the greatest matches, the greatest career that I’ve had yet. I see it. I feel it. I know it.”

Mone is reportedly expected to make her official debut for All Elite Wrestling on the March 13 edition of AEW Big Business.
