Sting On Facing The Young Bucks In Final Match: Whose Choice Was It? It Was Mine, I Didn’t Want To Do This Last Hurrah With Anyone Else

The Icon has massive respect for The Young Bucks.

It was a special and emotional night in Greensboro for AEW Revolution as the legendary Sting made the walk one last time alongside Darby Allin as the two collided with the Young Bucks in a match that no one was going to forget about for a very long time.

In the end, it was Sting who hit the Scorpion death drop and locked in the Scorpion deathlock to submit Matthew Jackson and retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships as the only undefeated team in AEW.

In an interview with SI, Sting was asked who had the idea of him facing the Young Bucks in his final match and this is what the Icon had to say for anyone who doubted if he was in charge of his final moments in a professional wrestling ring.

“First of all, I respect them for who they are. Behind the scenes, Matt and Nick are a couple of great guys, and they’re great wrestlers. Whose choice was it? It was mine. Matt and Nick, they deserve everything good that’s coming at them. I didn’t want to do this last hurrah with anyone else. I’ve watched how they conduct themselves, and I don’t care what anybody says or rumors that might be out there, they are as top notch as can possibly be. I don’t see any flaws in these guys in the ring. Their ability to make everybody better, and not just themselves, is not something many do. They consider AEW as a whole and what’s best for their opponents. I have so much respect for these guys.”

As Sting rides off into the sunset, it was announced that the AEW World Tag Team Championships would be officially vacant and held in a multi-bracket tournament to crown new champions.
