CM Punk Compares Seth Rollins Hatred For Him To Rivalry Between Colorado Avalanche And Detroit Red Wings

A fight night at Lincoln Field could be brewing up between the Best in the World and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Since his shocking return last November at Survivor Series, the former WWE Champion CM Punk has had to deal with plenty of superstars voicing their frustrations with the way he decided to walk out of WWE a decade ago.

Most notably, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has gone on to call Punk a “cancer” and someone he did not want to see back despite looking up to him for a good majority of his career.

Punk was the first guest on the Jackie Redmond Show where he spoke about Rollins, noting that the world champion has always thought of himself as the little brother of Punk, he would go on to say that the hatred Rollins has for Punk could be compared to the one between NHL team’s Colorado Avalanche and the Detroit Red Wings.

“We’re very similar. The difference is, I can talk about my career & not have to mention him. He can’t talk about his career without mentioning me. I understand where he’s coming from, you know, I understand, I think he’s always felt like he was the little brother. I’ve never tried to treat him that way, I’ve always tried to treat him like a peer but some people you just can’t reach. He hates me. He hates me, like Colorado Avalanche & Red Wings.” — CM Punk on Seth Rollins (via The Jackie Redmond Show on NHL’s YouTube)

If you’re a fan of the NHL, you most likely know about notoriety during the mid-1990s and early 2000s between the Avalanche and Red Wings. Both teams would go on to meet in the postseason five times and combined to win five Stanley Cups.

In their most epic fight of all time, On March 26, 1997, at the Joe Louis Arena, both teams would duke it out in a game that featured 18 fighting majors and 148 penalty minutes between the likes of Darren McCarty, Claude Lemieux, Peter Forsberg, Igor Larionov, plus many other players.

CM Punk says that he plans on winning the Royal Rumble and being in the main event of WrestleMania 40 this year against either the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rollins or the Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
