Bodyslam.net Exclusive: An Interview With Pro Wrestling NOAH Superstar Masa Kitamiya

Pro Wrestling NOAH superstar Masa Kitamiya made his debut for the promotion in 2012 and has been a regular part of the NOAH roster ever since. During his career with Pro Wrestling NOAH, Kitamiya has held the GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Titles on seven separate occasions including three times with Katsuhiko Nakajima.

On December 2nd, Masa Kitamiya teamed with Daiki Inaba as they were victorious over Stallion Rogers & Vinnie Massaro at the NOAH the BEST event. Following that victory, Masa Kitamiya called out NJPW star Tomohiro Ishii and challenged him to a singles match at NOAH “THE NEW YEAR” 2024 at Ariake Arena on January 2nd. Ishii accepted the challenge and the huge inter-promotional match was made official.

Masa Kitamiya took time out of his busy schedule and granted an interview to Bodyslam.net’s Lewis Carlan as they discussed his upcoming match with Tomohiro Ishii, If he’d like another shot at the GHC Tag Team Championship, Thoughts on Kota Ibushi appearing in NOAH and much more!

Q: Why did you decide to challenge Tomohiro Ishii for a match at NOAH “THE NEW YEAR’2024?

Masa Kitamiya: I wanted to settle the matter. There is also a personal motivation, so this is my own selfishness. And this is not a challenge. It’s a fight.

Q: How long have you wanted a match with Tomohiro Ishii and how will you prepare for this tough fight?

Masa Kiyamiya: Since I first became a wrestler.

Q: On November 24th you teamed with Daiki Inaba and unsuccessfully challenged for the GHC Tag Team Titles held by Jack Morris & Anthony Greene. Will you continue to team with Inaba and try to regain the GHC Tag Team Titles?

Masa Kitamiya: I’m always looking for a shot.

Q: Jack Morris is also the GHC National Champion, is that a championship that you would like to challenge for in 2024? And how do you feel about Morris being a double champion?

Masa Kitamiya: Great champion. I’m always up for a shot.

Q: You and Kento Miyahara had differences back in early 2023. How do you currently feel about Kento Miyahara?

Masa Kitamiya: Not for me.

Q: What are your goals for 2024 in Pro Wrestling NOAH?

Masa Kitamiya: To win the GHC Heavyweight Championship.

Q: What is your #1 goal in Pro Wrestling NOAH? Is it to win the GHC Heavyweight Championship?

Masa Kitamiya: Yes, it is.

Q: What are your feelings of Kota Ibushi coming to NOAH and challenging Naomichi Marufuji?

Masa Kitamiya: It’s none of my business.

Q: What final message would you have for you fans who are looking forward to seeing you have a successful 2024 with Pro Wrestling NOAH.
