Gunther Reflects On Bret Hart Criticising His Match With Sheamus At Clash At The Castle

Gunther looks back on receiving criticism from Bret Hart following his brutal Intercontinental Championship match with Sheamus at Clash at The Castle in 2022.

At the event, Sheamus looked to capture the championship for the first time, while Gunther was defending the championship on his biggest stage yet. In the end, Gunther put The Celtic Warrior away to retain and has gone on to hold the title for over 500 days.

On WWE’s The Bump, Gunther reflected on Hart’s less than nice approach to criticising the match.

“I think it’s obvious that, in-ring, he’s one of the best to ever do it. Very enjoyable. He was very popular in Germany and Austria. He was a big superstar there. I don’t forget, and that man sat at my match in Cardiff and was not mentioning nice things after that, so he’s not going to get anything nice with me. Too bad he’s not in the state anymore to settle this in the ring,”

Next up for the Intercontinental Champion is The Miz, who won a fatal four way number one contenders match on this past week’s edition of RAW. The match will take place at Survivor Series in Chicago later this month.
