Tetsuya Naito Set To Undergo Eye Surgery

Tetsuya Naito is set to undergo eye surgery.

Tetsuya Naito, via Tokyo Sports, announced that he will undergo surgery on his right eye on November 7th. Naito has previously underwent the surgery two times before, with this being the third and final time he will be able to opt in for the procedure.

“It’s muscle paralysis, so even if you have surgery, it won’t get completely better. Even if you have this surgery, if you continue to wrestle, you’ll probably return to the same condition eventually,”

“Actually, I wanted to save my last one for when I retire. But… even after I retire, it’s important, but more than that, I want to cherish the present, which will never come back, so I decided to do it,”

Naito is the reigning G1 Climax 33 champion, and will challenge SANADA for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in January at Wrestle Kingdom 18, but it is clear Naito is expected back in the ring by January.
