Rocky Romero Clarifies Parameters For CMLL Talent Working With AEW

Rocky Romero clarifies the parameters for CMLL talent working with AEW.

Recently, CMLL and AEW have begun a working relationship, as Mistico and Rocky Romero battled it out on last week’s edition of AEW Rampage. The match was treated with a great deal of respect, and in the end, Mistico would come away with the victory.

Romero has been an occasional part of AEW television throughout its inception, while he has also been a key part of the companies relationship with CMLL and NJPW.

On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Romero clarified the parameters for the CMLL working relationship with AEW, noting that as long as AAA and CMLL talent aren’t booked on the same show, there will be no issues.

“The parameters are things like no AAA talent on the same show as CMLL talent, obviously not in the same matches as well. But yeah, I think I’m pretty much responsible for at least getting the conversation started and bringing the idea of CMLL working with AEW. In this case, primarily Mistico. I think over the past few weeks, we’ve heard quite a bit that Tony Khan was a big fan of Mistico and having him was a big deal. Just to be able to open that door for CMLL, AEW, and New Japan to hopefully do some more work together next year, I think it’s really cool. That’s another forbidden door opened.”

Rocky featured on this week’s AEW Dynamite, as Chaos hit the ring following the tag team main event between Kazuchika Okada, Orange Cassidy and The Blackpool Combat Club.
