Hiroshi Tanahashi: The End Of My Active Career Is In Sight

Hiroshi Tanahashi was promoting the new documentary about the legendary Antonio Inoki via a media interview conducted by Number Web. During a portion of the interview, Tanahashi admitted that he feels the end of his active career as a professional wrestler is in sight.

The end of my active career is in sight. So before the Coronavirus outbreak, I think I could have retired with peace of mind thinking, New Japan is fine now and I’ve done my best. New Japan Pro-Wrestling, which had a lot of excitement, has once again been forced to struggle due to factors other than themselves, such as the Coronavirus, so we want to make it exciting once again

Hiroshi Tanahashi, who is 46 years of age, debuted for NJPW back in 1999 and has remained with the company for over 20 years. He is an 8 time IWGP Heavyweight Champion, 3 time IWGP US Champion, 3 time IWGP Tag Team Champion and 2 time IWGP Intercontinental Champion.

Tanahashi currently hold the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Titles with Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii. They are scheduled to defend the belts against the IMPACT Wrestling trio of Josh Alexander, Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin on October 9th at NJPW Destruction in Ryogoku.
