Bryan Danielson Clarifies He Won’t Be Retiring Completely When His Daughter Turns 7

Bryan Danielson clarifies what he said on last Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

On the AEW Collision prior to AEW All Out, many fans were unsure who would step up to defend Ricky Steamboat against Ricky Starks, with the previous answer obviously being CM Punk. However, Bryan Danielson would answer the call, returning a month ahead of schedule from a broken arm. Danielson would go on to win this match.

On last Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, Bryan would note that he will be retiring once his daughter turns seven in the next year.

In a new interview with Sports Illustrated, clarified what he meant on last week’s show, noting that he won’t be retiring immediately after his daughter’s birthday in May, and is targeting August for his retirement.

“In my mind, it’s around August of next year,” said Danielson. “My daughter will say, ‘Daddy, are you going to be done wrestling when I turn seven?’ And I’ll respond, ‘Well, not exactly when you turn seven, but I’ll be on the home stretch.’

“I didn’t get a chance to do All In this year. I would like that chance next year. We have a show, WrestleDream, this October 1 in Seattle where I’m wrestling Zack Sabre Jr. If we have another next year in Seattle? Maybe it will be then. My daughter turns seven in May, so it’s a good time to close down the shop.”
