Matt Hardy Claims Tony Khan Was In Leatherface Costume For Texas Chainsaw Massacre Death Match

Matt Hardy claims Tony Khan was in the Leatherface costume during the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Death Match.

The matchup was an interesting one to say the least on Wednesday evening as Jeff Hardy and Jeff Jarrett battled in a Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch. The match featured several references to the horror franchise, as the match was sponsored by the upcoming video game release for the IP.

The match would end up even including Leatherface, who came out with a chainsaw as the match reached its final stretch. He would chase away Karen Jarrett during his spot, with him having little actual effect on the matchup.

Fightful Select originally reported that an independent talent was in the costume, but now while speaking on the latest edition of his Extreme Life podcast, Matt Hardy claimed that the AEW president was in the costume.

Tony Khan was really into the idea of doing this match. He was really excited about the sponsorship and that they were going to be donating that portion of the money to the Maui charity, which is a great cause, obviously, but Tony was so into this match, he actually dressed up as Leatherface. He had to play Leatherface and he ran out with a chainsaw. How committed to the gig, right? He gave us Leatherface guys. Sorry to spoil that but Tony Khan was Leatherface running out swinging the chainsaw.

The sponsored segment was worth over 100,000 dollars after all was said and done.

Prior to the matchup, Jeff Jarrett confirmed that Leatherface would show up during the matchup.

Jarrett would end up scoring the victory after Satnam Singh chokeslammed Hardy.
