Gunther Addresses His First Loss On The WWE Main Roster

Gunther comments on his first loss on the WWE main roster.

Gunther is nearing the record for longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion of all time, but he continues to state that he has made the championship what it is today.

The title has seen an almost rebirth in the hands of the Ring General, with Gunther defeating some top talent in WWE to retain the title, including Rey Mysterio, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre, former World Champions in the promotion.

Since making his way to the WWE main roster, Gunther was able to remain undefeated for quite some time, only losing for the first time on Monday’s RAW to Chad Gable. The loss was via count out, but Gunther was still furious with the result after the match.

Speaking to Jeff Snyder, Gunther was asked about suffering his first loss on the main roster to Gable.

“I’m definitely taking pride in my title reign. Ever since I came to the main roster, it didn’t take too long until I got my hands on the Intercontinental Championship. Since then, I can leave my own mark and legacy on the title and in the same process, building my own legacy. I’ve been doing it my way, the way I’ve always expressed myself in the ring, I’m still doing that and that’s something I’m very proud of, obviously. Wins and losses in wrestling are something different than in other sports, but in my situation, it’s very important to win because I plan to stay Intercontinental Champion,”

It is unknown if Chad Gable will get a rematch for the Intercontinental title as of this writing.

Gunther is also just a few weeks away from becoming the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time, so their next match will have incredibly high stakes should it be booked
