FTR’s Cash Wheeler Arrested On Aggravated Assault With A Firearm Charge In Orlando, Road Rage Incident Lead To Cash Flashing His Weapon
Cash Wheeler has been arrested in Orlando on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.
Just a matter of days before FTR is set to defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against the Young Bucks in an anxiously anticipated rubber match in the team’s long-term feud, Cash Wheeler has run into legal problems in Orlando.
The Orlando Sentinel reported Friday morning that Wheeler, 36, had been arrested by the Orlando Police Department on one charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.
At a court hearing Friday afternoon in Orlando, a judge set bond for Wheeler at $2,500, with conditions that Wheeler have no contact with the alleged victim, and that he not be allowed to possess any weapons. The judge stipulated that within 12 hours of his release, any weapons he owns would be turned over to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Discussion between attorneys and the presiding judge at the hearing indicated that the incident was a “road rage type” incident, in which Wheeler is alleged to have flashed a gun at the alleged victim. It was further stated that Wheeler and the victim had no prior interaction, and did not know each other.
At this time, there is no word about whether or not there have been any discussions about his being allowed to travel while his case is pending.
According to Florida law, the statute in question involves an assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, or with intent to commit a felony, and is considered a third-degree felony.
According to Orange County court records, the date of the offense is listed as July 27. An arrest warrant was issued the following day.
The Sentinel further adds that “AEW issued a statement […] which reads: ‘AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. (Wheeler) is fully cooperating with local authorities.’”
