Tony Schiavone Puts Heavy Praise On Ricky Starks, Steamboat Segment From Last Week’s AEW Collision

Tony Schiavone loved the closing segment of Saturday’s AEW Collision.

On last Saturday’s episode of the show, Punk faced off with Starks in a singles match for what Punk calls the real world championship of AEW. Ricky Steamboat featured as the special enforcer and after the match and Punk had won, Starks attacked The Dragon, hitting him with a belt over and over in a vicious attack.

Speaking on his What Happened When podcast, Tony Schiavone looked back on the moment.

“Ricky Steamboat is such a professional. Such a great talent. Still can probably outsell most people in the business today at 70 years old,”

“This moment was not lost on Ricky Starks. I think about how much it meant to his career. We’re doing some good things on Saturday night. We really are. I’m really enjoying doing the show because I’m really, really busy backstage because we do pre-tapes. We do a lot of ROH pre-tapes backstage, too. So I stay very busy during the show, to the point to where I don’t always get to watch the program because I’m doing a lot of backstage work. But I love doing the in-ring interviews, and I love doing the pre-tapes. I’m just really, really enjoying what we’re doing on Saturday night. So it’s been really cool.”

We will have to wait and see what comes next in this story, but it doesn’t look like Starks and Punk’s rivalry will end here.
