Over the weekend, MCW tweeted this out on their official account, letting fans know that Lio Rush had injured his shoulder.
It appears to be the same shoulder injured a few years ago.
In an update to this story, last night GCW took to their social media Twitter account to announce that Lio had to be removed from their August 4th show due to injury. Lio was set to take on Mike Bailey at the event, however, in light of the injury news, GCW World Champion, Blake Christian, will now be taking on Bailey instead.
Today, Haus of Wrestling provided an official update on Lio, noting that he’d only be out of action for about a month.
Haus of Wrestling has learned that the injury is “not serious” and that Rush is only expected to miss one month of action. This is good news for Rush, and his fans, who have enjoyed the renaissance he has been having since leaving WWE in 2020.
Lio is the current X Division Champion, and scheduled to be part of the IMPACT Wrestling Chicago Heat TV tapings this weekend. He has not been announced for a match, so it would be easy enough for him to do some backstage or in ring segments without actually competing. These episodes will air over the next month.
Lio is also currently scheduled to team with Trey Miguel as they take on the team of Mike Bailey & Hiromu Takahashi at the NJPWxIMPACT Multiverse United 2 show on August 20th.
It seems the goal would be for Lio to still be able to compete there, and then a regular schedule moving forward.
