Tony Schiavone Believes Too Many Wrestlers Direct Their Promos To Social Media

Tony Schiavone comments on wrestlers focusing on social media during their promos.

Social media is part of the reason why wrestling is so popular once again in 2023, but it does have its disadvantages as tribalism runs rampant on every platform.

During recent episode of What Happened When, Tony Schiavone spoke about how pro wrestlers will cater their promos for social media, and noted that he is not a fan of it in the slightest.

“No, not at all, no, I — and to this day, I think if you try to direct what you’re doing on an interview or too much online, I think you’re missing the point,” he said. “So many wrestlers today are motivated by Twitter or by Instagram, and I think it’s wrong.”

We will have to wait and see if modern wrestlers will heed Schiavone’s warning about social media.
