Scott D’Amore Talks Returning To The Ring In Windsor At Slammiversary

Scott D’Amore is stepping back into the ring as a competitor for the first time years.

CTV Windsor News Reporter Bob Bellacicc spoke with Scott D’Amore ahesd of his return to the ring later.

Impact Wrestling President Scott D’Amore is a big promoter of the Windsor region, “I’ve been talking for years really about what a great wrestling town Windsor, Ontario is and this is proof of it.”

“Anyone that tunes in Saturday will get a first hand look at how amazing a wrestling town Windsor, Ontario is,” said D’Amore.

“He’s always been highly regarded behind the scene for decades and decades but to get back in the ring and get that one shining moment it’s a huge moment for Windsor fans for sure,” said Jamie Greer, a local wrestling historian.

D’Amore has been at Border City Wrestling all week getting ready for his return, “Half a century old. Still in here doing my thing. I guess we’ll all find out Saturday night how I hold up.”

Greer, who is writing a book focusing on Windsor’s wrestling history, is interested in D’Amore’s return.
“It doesn’t matter if they’re still as fluid or as agile as they were before because it’s all about connecting to the audience,” said Greer.

That is what D’Amore is good at. He connected with the audience in a cameo appearance at St. Clair College in March and had the crowd in a roar with an old school closer move.

“That was the move that Petey Williams, also from Windsor, used to win countless championships,” said Greer. “That was his finishing move and it’s named after Scott’s mentor the Canadian Destroyer Doug Chevalier.”

D’Amore won’t need much motivation when he faces Bully Ray Saturday night in a tag team. He was thrown into a burning table a month ago after a long Bully Ray diatribe.

“I look forward to shutting his mouth up,” said D’Amore.

On the January 5th, 2023 episode of IMPACTonAXSTV, Bully Ray & the Good Hands powrbombed Scott D’Amore through a table.

Scott returned after the attack in January and ended up hitting Jason Hotch with the Canadian Destroyer at the LIVE Sacrifice on 3/24 from Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Scott D’Amore was put through a flaming table by Steve Maclin & Bully Ray at IMPACT’s LIVE Under Siege event on 5/26.

During the #1 contenders match fort the IMPACT World Title, Scott D’Amore came out and hit Bully with a chair shot, leaving him open to a Roster Cut from Heath onto the chair and cost Bully the victory in this match.

The result of this was Scott stepping away from IMPACT in an executive capacity, but revealed that he would be teaming with PCO to take on Bully & Maclin at Slammiversary.

It was revealed later that the only person who could possibly control the mayhem in their match would be Special Enforcer, former NHL 4x Stanley Cup champion, Darren McCarty.

Unfortunately, Steve Maclin was injured during a match in Australia on June 30th. His replacement in this match was revealed this past Monday to be Cody Deaner.

Last week on the 7/6 IMPACT show, PCO had battery acid poured down his throat and was then set on fire.

As a result, Scott’s partner for the Slammiversary tag team match was in jeopardy. The show ended this week with Scott placing a phone call to somebody who wasn’t revealed, but Scott said PCO isn’t coming back this time, but can they (whoever he was on the phone with).

We’ll have to tune into Slammiversary tonight to see who Scott teams with.
