IMPACT Wrestling 7/13 Results & Review: Go-Home Slammiversary Show
- The show opens with Zachary Wentz taking on Chris Bey. Wentz won after a distraction and he was able to hit Bey with some kind of object and get the pin.
My thoughts: I saw this happening a mile away as soon as Wentz made his return, but I’m honestly surprised that they’re going with this “they’re not being added to the match” story. Let’s just add them and get it done. It won’t surprise me to see them in the match somehow between now and Saturday.
We see a great video package hyping Alex Shelley vs Nick Aldis for the IMPACT World Title at Slammiversary.
-“Speedball” Mike Bailey vs Kevin Knight.
Bailey wins with the Ultima Weapon.
My thoughts: fantastic preview for their upcoming Ultimate X match on Saturday at Slammiversary. This is the match of the night – if anybody asked me what they should watch to see what IMPACT is really about, this is a top 5 match I would refer them to.
Next we see an amazing vignette with Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly hyping their Knockouts Tag Title Match at Slammiversary.
-Joe Hendry & Yuya Uemura vs. Kenny King & Sheldon Jean-
Hendry & Yuya get the victory in a relatively short match.
In a funny spot in the match, Kenny King refused to take his hoodie off. Last week Joe Hendry launched the “Stripper Kenny” video, referencing King’s time as a chippendale dancer.
My thoughts: I enjoy Joe Hendry and his gimmick, especially with the music videos. Great stuff, unlike most other stuff going on across the wrestling landscape right now.
We get a really cool video of Lio Rush talking about Chris Sabin and the X Division Title ahead of their match at Slammiversary on Saturday.
We go right to Chris Sabin backstage with Gia Miller talking about Lio Rush and the X Division Title match they’re competing in at Slammiversary.
-Moose & Brian Myers vs. Sami Callihan & Rich Swann.
Moose & Myers pick up the victory after Moose spears Sami Callihan for the pin.
My thoughts: it was a better match then I expected it to be, but neither of these teams need to or should be involved in the Tag Team Title picture.
We get a badass video from Subculture hyping their Tag Title Match
Alan Angels teases a new version of himself now that he’s free from The Design
Tom Hannifan & Matthew Rehwoldt do a rundown of the Slammiversary card
We see a phenomenal Nick Aldis video package about his journey to the IMPACT World Title match at Slammiversary.
-Deonna Purrazzo Open challenge: Jody Threat answers the challenge.
Jody Threat suffers her first defeat since to Deonna since debuting with IMPACT.
Deonna and Trinity brawl after the match.
We see a Scott D’Amore backstage on the phone. He says “look, we’ve tried everything. Apparently this time, PCO can’t come back to life. So my question is: can you?!?”
Scott walks off as the camera pans to the Team Canada shirt on the table.
My thought: the only person who recently “died” on IMPACT television was Eric Young, who was stabbed by Deaner. He would make sense, but last anybody checked, he was under contract with another company.
