Kaito Kiyomiya: At The End Of G1 Climax 33, People Will Be Talking About Me and Pro Wrestling NOAH
Pro Wrestling NOAH superstar Kaito Kiyomiya is set to participate in the NJPW G1 Climax 33 Tournament which scheduled to begin on July 15th. Kiyomiya will be the first NOAH representative in the G1 since 2016.
Ahead of the tournament, Kiyomiya was interviewed by NJPW World as they discussed G1 Climax 33.
Kiyomiya was asked how he felt when he initially got the offer to participate in the G1:
I was stoked, honestly. This is a big stage for all of wrestling. Back at the Tokyo Dome in February I lost to Kazuchika Okada, but NJPW still obviously felt that the G1 would be more exciting with Kaito Kiyomiya in it.
NJPW World asked Kiyomiya about the NJPW naming Shota Umino, Yota Tsuji and Ren Narita the Reiwa Three Musketeers and the heated debate it led to online some of which included Kiyomiya:
Well if it gets people talking, that’s a good thing, I guess. I’ll make sure by the end of the G1 people are talking about Kiyomiya and NOAH
Kiyomiya was then asked about the youth of A Block that he, Umino, Tsuji and Narita are all in but he indicated that there is only one man he is concentrating on:
Obviously, I have to be here to take out the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, and that’s SANADA
When asked if there was anyone from the other blocks he would like to face in the Knockout phase of the G1, Kiyomiya gave this answer:
Well, Okada. Gotta be. I have to beat Okada, and I want to do it in the final.
Kiyomiya concluded the interview with this comment:
I want you all to take a good look at Kaito Kiyomiya. You’re going to see from me what you never see in NJPW, and you’re going to see what makes NOAH so great. NJPW has spent decades at the top of this industry in the eyes of the world, and in this G1 I’ll be fighting to change that.
