Bully Ray believes CM Punk is filling the shoes of John Cena with polarizing reactions from wrestling crowds.
In Canada over AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door weekend, CM Punk was booed relentlessly by the crowd, but was cheered in Chicago, as expected. Punk is expected to continue to get polarizing reactions in what ever city he goes to next, and Bully Ray agrees.
While discussing on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray expressed his opinion that CM Punk is currently receiving a similar crowd reaction to what John Cena experienced for a long time.
“Punk right now is getting the Cena treatment. Whether they love you or whether they hate you, they have some kind of an emotional response to you. Now there’s a two-fold scenario going on with Punk: People who are going to want to see Punk and cheer him; people who are gonna buy tickets to see CM Punk and boo him. What’s the common denominator? Buy tickets.”

We will have to wait and see if Punk will continue to get those reactions from AEW crowds in the near future, but for now Bully Ray continues to believe CM Punk is a top draw in the wrestling industry.
