Jon Moxley is on top of his game like never before.

Moxley is scheduled to face Kenny Omega on the 5/10/23 pay per view hyped edition of AEW Dynamite live from Detroit, MI. Jon is on a hell of a run with the current best story in professional wrestling with the Elite vs. the Blackpool Combat Club. It wasn’t too long ago that Mox had to take a step back and focus on himself when he entered an inpatient alcohol treatment program in November 2021, and finally returned in January of 2022.

Moxley recently spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Moxley spoke of his history with Kenny Omega and how he pushed him since he arrived in AEW. Moxley noted that he’s in a much better place now than he was in 2019, and while substance abuse issues are never truly over, they are in the rearview mirror for him.

“Four years ago, a lot of people were ready to write me off. A lot of people thought I couldn’t even measure up to Kenny. He was coming off that New Japan run and he was the greatest wrestler of all time. I felt an immense amount of motivation. I felt like, ‘I’m going to show all you motherfuckers I belong on the top.’ So Kenny has been pushing me since day one in AEW. Now I’m far better than I was then in 2019, especially now that I’m not scared of dying of a seizure in the ring. Substance abuse issues are never really over, but it’s in the rearview. Mentally, physically, this is the best I’ve felt in a long time,” Moxley said.

Moxley went on to explain that he has a lot of miles on his body, but he pushes himself to get everything he can out of it. He stated that he feels better than ever mentally, and he’ll do whatever he wants.

“Let’s face the facts: I’ve got a lot of miles on my body. You only live once and I don’t take it easy. I’ve pushed myself to get everything I can out of my body. Mentally, I feel better than ever. Right now, never in my life have I given less fucks about anything. I’ll do whatever the fuck I want. I don’t give a fuck. That may sound abstract, but it’s a powerful thing,” Moxley said.
