The main event of Backlash began before the bell even rang as Cody Rhodes took the fight to “The Beast” right out of the gate, using a weapons to beatdown Rhodes before the opening ball.
Cody would then hit multiple Disaster Kicks before Brock took control of the match with a series of suplexes and strikes. Cody sold the rib injury that Brock inflicted on him on the Monday Night RAW after WrestleMania.
Lesnar would continue to beat down The American Nightmare as an exposed turnbuckle came into play. Brock would go head first, immediately being busted open. Cody would hit two Cross Rhodes in a row, but Brock kicked out. It would not take long for Lesnar to be covered in blood.
Brock would respond however, hitting a vicious F5 for a near fall before locking in a Kimura Lock on The American Nightmare. However, this would be Lesnar’s undoing as Cody would stack him up for the pinfall to steal the win.
