Zelina Vega Wanted Queen Of The Ring Crown To Function As A Midcard Championship

Zelina Vega wanted to defend her Queen’s crown as a surrogate midcard championship in WWE’s women’s division.

Since its first go around, WWE have not booked a Queen of The Ring tournament. Due to this, one could argue Zelina Vega remains the Queen of WWE. (Sorry Charlotte.)

When asked by Fox News whether WWE should introduce a midcard women’s title, Vega admitted that she wanted the Queen of The Ring crown to serve as WWE’s midcard championship for women.

I thought that’s kind of what Queen of the Ring could have been. When I won that crown, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m down to put it on the line.’ Like, we’ll have matches for the crown. There were so many ideas that I had for Queen of the Ring. But I think because it was just so new, and it was the first ever, you know, they put me in with Carmella, and it got kind of complicated to try and do all of that at once. I do think it would be beneficial definitely to have another title, another opportunity for other girls to win some gold.”

Vega is scheduled to take on Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown women’s championship on tomorrow night’s WWE Backlash card. We will have to wait and see if she can add that championship to her previous Queen of The Ring win.
