Tasha Steelz Talks Hiatus From IMPACT, Wanting To Wrestle Mercedes Mone at Multiverse United 2 For IWGP Women’s Title

Tasha Steelz signed a new contract at the end of 2022 and then took a break. She returned to the company on March 24th at the Sacrifice LIVE event to help Deonna Purrazzo when Deonna was being beaten down after a match with Gisele Shaw.

Steelz stated in a recent interview with Steve Fall of WrestlingNewsCo that she wants to face Mercedes for the IWGP Women’s Championship at IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United 2: For Whom the Bell Tolls.

“The CEO vs. The Boricua Badass? I see it. I see it. A lot of people have been seeing it as well,” said Tasha. “Never say never. You can never say never, and we’re going to just manifest it right now. We’re going to speak it into existence, and hopefully, at Multiverse United 2, everyone will get to see Tasha Steelz vs. Mercedes Mone.”

Steelz was also asked about the reasoning for her hiatus, and she noted that she likes to make people question what she does, so she never fully reveals everything.

“I love a good speculating. I don’t think people do that nowadays. A lot of people, they predict as to what you’re gonna do next, and that’s the thing, like social media and trolls, they always predict what you’re gonna do next. I like to keep people questioning what I do. I never just leave it all out there. I like for them to question.

Steelz continued by noting that she asked for time off because she had to find herself. She recalled how reality “struck” and told her that she had to work on some things. Steelz also expressed her gratitude for the way everyone in IMPACT stood behind her while she took steps to get better.

“At the time, after I did my new deal and I did ask for time off, I had to just step back and find Tasha Steelz because of me losing the championship, and I felt like I was at the top of my game, but reality struck, and reality basically told me, ‘No, you’re not, and there’s some things you need to work on, there’s some things you need to do,’” Steelz said. “That’s with everybody. That’s not just with me. Everybody has that moment. So I had to just really step back and just really work on being a better Tasha Steelz for not just myself, but everyone who supported me, including everyone in that locker room in IMPACT and management and the girls and the guys. They all stood behind me during that time.

“I did what I did, and I found myself, and I got better, and things have just been great so far, and I made my return in Windsor, saved my girl. She was getting jumped but I was like, ‘Hell no, Team Adams all the way, through and through.’ Came in, saved my girl, and we had a great moment, and Tasha Steelz is back, and more Flava at it very, very soon.”

Tasha Steelz recently defeated Gisele Shaw on the April 13 episode of IMPACTonAXSTV. Gisele tried to play the numbers game, having Savannah Evans and Jai Vidal get involved. Steelz overcame the odds and won the match anyway.

Mercedes Mone won the IWGP Women’s Title on Feb 18th at the New Japan Pro Wrestling Battle in the Valley event when she defeated KAIRI.

In the past, Mone has stated that she wants to work with IMPACT, but was more explicitly targeting Mickie James prior to Mickie’s injury. IMPACT fans will wait to hear back and see if this is a match Mercedes would be interested in.
