Zelina Vega On Rey Mysterio: I Might Have Hit Him In The Face A Few Times, But We’re Both Past That

Zelina Vega talks about working with Rey Mysterio and being a babyface for the first time in WWE.

Speaking about the experience with Ryan Satin on the Out of Character podcast, Vega joked that she and Mysterio have a complicated relationship because she has managed many of his adversaries in recent years.

“I feel like me and Rey have the most complicated relationship in the history of ever. But yes, since watching him as a kid, Halloween Havoc 97, him and Eddie [Guerrero], that was the match that me go, ‘I want to do this.’ It’s crazy to go from that point to meeting him as a chubby little fangirl at 15, and then now, to be working with him, alongside him at WrestleMania, I feel like there’s no better storybook than that. I mean, you can throw in the whole, ‘She smacked him on a ladder one time,’ but I mean, that’s just specifics. We don’t need that,” she said.

As for working as a babyface for the first time in WWE, Vega noted that she is able to find a fan base due to her interests outside of the rain and says that it’s hard to boo somebody when they are working alongside such a noted protagonist like Rey Mysterio.

“I’ve always said that I’m never the cheer for me kind of person. That’s why I always said, ‘Liv, you got it. You got it down pat. I don’t know what you do… you genuinely care, right? That’s what it is? You actually like humans?’ I don’t. But I think that’s also what makes me kind of sort of likable sometimes. Other people don’t like other people, so you can be like, ‘I feel that, and I feel that you got seven cats. I rock with that.’ Or it’s like, ‘Oh, she loves anime. I do too. I may not be stoked on her, but her anime references are dope.’ So you find reasons to like me. Plus, you can’t hate me when I’m on Rey Mysterio’s side, and I know that we’ve had our differences and whatever, but we’re good now. We forgives very easily. I might have hit him in the face a few times, but he’s past it,” she said.
