Mick Foley Regrets Taking So Many Chair Shots To The Head

Chair shots to the head have been slowly taken out of pro wrestling and for good reason as it lead to several brain injuries for talent.

One person all too familiar with the venom that comes from a chair shot to the head is Mick Foley. Foley is famous for his incredible bumps and gruesome injuries during his iconic career, however, Foley does have some regrets.

While speaking on his Foley Is Pod podcast, Mick Foley looked back on his long career and revealed two massive regrets that he wished he never did. Foley revealed that he wished he never hit elbow drops on the concrete in non-televised matches. Foley would also note that he wished he didn’t take unprotected chair shots to the head.

“I never liked the fire. I did it. I never felt comfortable with it. Looking back, there were two things he would not have done in his career”

So I could have done things that were healthier, but then I’m not the guy who got to the dance. You know, those were the things that brought me there. I wish I had not dropped elbows on the concrete in non-televised matches and used it less on TV also, and I wish I’d brought up the hand because here was no correlation to me between guys who blocked or did not block chair shots and guys who got over big time, because the guys who were the biggest stars in the business did block the chairs, and no one thought any less of them.”

Mick Foley gave his body to the sport of professional wrestling and his long litany of health conditions that he has developed are proof of that fact.

What do you think? Should pro wrestlers have stopped using chair shots to the head much sooner? Let us know in the comments and on our social media pages.
