Roman Reigns Wasn’t Originally A Fan Of Beating Jey Uso Into Submission

Roman Reigns came back to WWE after a hiatus at SummerSlam 2020 under a completely new persona. He joined forces with Paul Heyman and won the WWE Universal title in a matter of weeks that kickstarted his record-setting reign.

During the start of his Tribal Chief gimmick, his first adversary was his own cousin, Jey Uso. While Roman Reigns expected every to fall in place and acknowledge him, Jey rebelled against him leading to an epic rivalry between the two family members.

The two Bloodline members had a series of matches including a Hell in a Cell bout, with Jey Uso losing each time and finally acknowledged Roman Reigns as his leader. During an interview with the APNews, Reigns admitted that he disliked the idea of beating Jey into the Bloodline faction but later thought that it made all the sense in the world.

When these ideas in real-time started happening, it became a chain reaction, a domino effect. It’s been like an onion, peeling open, left and right, these awesome opportunities and different rabbit holes to dive down with these different characters we’ve involved.”

Roman Reigns is slated to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39. The same event will see Jey and Jimmy Uso defend their Undisputed WWE tag team titles against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. With both cousins scheduled for huge Mania matches, we will have to wait and see if they keep all the gold within The Bloodline or not.
