Edge Confirms He Rejected Offer From Another Wrestling Promotion Before 2020 Return To WWE

Edge retired in 2011 after major neck issues that cut short his promising career and put him on the shelf for nine-long years. However, the WWE Hall of Famer battled back and returned to WWE in 2020 at the Royal Rumble event.

Moreover, Edge’s miraculous return could have seen him end up somewhere else as well. It was reported that the Rated-R superstar received an offer to join the rival promotion, AEW in 2019.

Edge decided to return to the company that made him a household name in the business. He recently revealed his thought process upon receiving an offer to work outside WWE in an interview with SportsNet 590 The Fan.

“There was an opportunity to [leave WWE]. Again, it’s where I’ve spent my entire career outside of the indies. This year will be my 25th year with WWE since my television debut. Just having been there so long and understanding how it works, understanding the machine that it is, there’s something to be said for that. There’s also something to be said for trying something new and exciting. A new set of faces and a new way for the way things work.

I’ve always been a loyalist, though, in terms of that company. It’s what I grew up watching and where I always wanted to get to. What it boils down to is where I think I can have the most fun, honestly.”

Edge’s second run has been nothing short of remarkable till now. He is slated to battle Demon Finn Balor in a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 39. With Balor confirmed to bring his demon to the cell, it is expected that Edge would resurrect the Brood version of himself to counter Balor’s demonic antics at the Show of Shows.
