Charlotte Flair Explains Why She Needed A Mental Break From WWE

Charlotte Flair dropped the SmackDown Women’s championship to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash. Right after that, The Queen was written off television, going on an extended leave of absence.

Charlotte Flair picked up right from where she left off, returning to WWE on the final SmackDown of 2022. Her impromptu match with Ronda Rousey saw her win back the Smackdown Women’s championship, making her a 14-time champion.

While speaking with The Daily Star, Charlotte Flair talked about her hiatus from WWE last year. The Queen explained why she needed a mental break from WWE, which ultimately helped her get the time to marry Andrade El Idolo and get dental surgery.

I had been going so hard for so long and I needed a refresh. I wanted to get married, I wanted to have that time with him, and then stepping away it was kind of more realizing, is there anything I love as much as being inside the ring and performing for you guys, and that was kind of challenging because I don’t know what gives you that same feeling.”

Charlotte Flair is currently preparing for her next major encounter at WrestleMania 39, where she will defend her title against Rhea Ripley. The match has the potential to be the main event of night one, which would be a significant achievement for the women’s division.
