Vince McMahon Wouldn’t Allow Kurt Angle To Face The Undertaker At WrestleMania

For years, facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania was considered one of the biggest achievements for any WWE superstar. However, in a recent episode of his podcast, Kurt Angle revealed that he had once proposed to wrestle The Deadman at WrestleMania 22, but the idea was rejected by Vince McMahon.

It was back in February 2006 when Angle and The Undertaker had an electrifying match at No Way Out. In the main event of the show, Angle defeated The Undertaker and won the World Heavyweight Championship. However, the original plan was for the match to take place at WrestleMania, which would have made it an even bigger deal.

While speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Angle revealed that he had proposed to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but Vince McMahon had different ideas. The former creative head did not want The Undertaker’s legendary streak to be conquered at the time, and he also wished to have Angle continue his world title reign, which would have required him to defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

“We both wanted it to be at WrestleMania. But Vince McMahon wouldn’t allow that because he didn’t want ‘Taker to end his undefeated streak, at least not at that particular time… They just decided out of the blue to have a match with The Undertaker and me because we wanted one-on-one at WrestleMania, and Vince tried to make us happy by having it at No Way Out.

There wasn’t much of a difference. The one difference was I improved that much more. I became an in-ring general myself, and I became very good at what I did… I mean, I was experienced enough to know what I had to do, as far as a pro wrestler. And Undertaker had all the experience in the world. But we came together, and we started doing these submission trade-offs and these false finishes; we had one of the greatest matches of all time at No Way Out 2006.”

Both Kurt Angle and The Undertaker have been enjoying their life after retirement from in-ring competition. We will have to wait and see when both of them will return to WWE television again.
