The upcoming WWE SmackDown on FOX will feature an epic battle between Cody Rhodes and Ludwig Kaiser, two highly skilled athletes who are sure to leave it all in the ring.

The match was booked after Imperium’s Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci rudely interrupted Rhodes during an interview with Megan Morant on The SmackDown LowDown. In a video clip of the incident, Kaiser ridiculed Rhodes for boasting about his Royal Rumble win, which he achieved by entering last and eliminating the man who had been in the ring since the beginning – WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER. According to Kaiser, Rhodes only proved how pathetic he was that night.

Rhodes, however, was not intimidated by Kaiser’s insults. In response, he gave GUNTHER some praise, but reminded Kaiser that this is all about wins and losses. Rhodes argued that the only people who say this is not about wins and losses are Hall of Famers and those at the bottom of the card. This prompted Kaiser to interrupt and claim that GUNTHER is the future, while Rhodes is nothing but hype.

Not one to back down from a challenge, Rhodes then proposed a match with Kaiser for the following Friday. Kaiser hesitated at first, but eventually agreed. Before Imperium left, Vinci warned Rhodes that he had just made a big mistake.

The match has since been made official for Friday’s SmackDown.
